Wedding Fair at Forever Green

Picture yourself chaufered up a tree lined drive. As you leave behind the urban jungle and go into this oasis of tranquillity, you begin to emerge yourself into a natrual enviroment of silver birch, exceptional Oak trees and swaying pines. You quickly come across Forever Green, located into the middle of this, surrounded by a patchwork of wild flowers with Scotts Pine trees towering above its huge glass windows. The places that lie close to the parks gates like Nottingham, Chesterfield and Newark are now but a distant memory as you begin to relax in all these peaceful surroundings.

As you enter Forever Green and are greeted with a refreshing drink and home-made canapés, you enjoy the venue’s clean-lined, leaf-hued interiors. These flood with light as the bring-the-outside-in windows provide a towering natural vista with an informal feel from the recently refurbished and comfort-cooled interior.

Well-respected restaurateurs, Paul and Andrea are keen to give that unique touch to your wedding and even share in your pre-wedding butterflies on the morning of your wedding day. Enjoy deliciously fresh food created by the in-house team, sourced from their own orchards and allotment; free-range eggs come from down the road, the rest from local shire suppliers. Big greenie points abound: animal and bird rescue organisations release their charges into the thickets already populated with fox, deer and woodpecker.

Church wedding photography in Kedleston, Derbyshire

St Michael with St Mary, Church Melbourne Derbyshire

Way back in ancient times, marriage was much more informal. Couples could make a promise to each other in front of a witness at any spot or precious time, and it was recognised as a joining arrangement. In fact, it was regarded as enough to call God as a witness; His power was considered to be sufficient to override His lack of physical presence! This of course led to many a Knight making a statement of marriage to a girl, having his wicked way then disappearing, leaving her to suffer the consequences.

As many marriages were fixed to bring money or power into the family, or to sustain status and position in the neighborhood, arranged weddings between members of the family were common. In the 11th century the Council of Westminster decreed that no man could assemble the marriage of any female in his family group not having church approval, and gradually the church began to have an affect, restricting inter family relationships and driving the ceremony into the Church itself.

To start with, weddings generally took place in the church porch, which is why this space is normally so large in many churches. By the 15th century, Trent Council decreed that every wedding that took place without having a priest was nullified, and the Church was now recognized as the only location to get wedded. The traditional form of the marriage vows, “To have and to hold from this day forward, for better or for worse, in sickness and in health, till death do us part” have been incorporated into the Book of Common Prayer in 1552 and have played a important part in church weddings since.

The architecture of many of our churches makes for quite beautiful settings, and the grounds of the church have grown to be the traditional area for many of the professional photographs to be taken. Both the signing of the register and the happy family group outside the church door are significant pictures for both the professional photographer and the happy family snappers!

Personalised Wedding Favours

Jen's wrappers

Now you are well on the way to setting up your ‘Perfect Wedding’ the flowers, car, venue, photographer etc are all booked and deposits paid, but now you are caught up on the smallest element of all – the wedding favours.

The trouble is that presenting a personalised favour can be extremely expensive, particularly if you go down the route of getting some thing small laser engraved with the guest’s name on. Yes you can pick the specific item up cheaply, but then you really want to personalise it so how about getting it etched with the wedding day and individual names on, shouldn’t be too much, but do not forget you have over 60 guests at the wedding breakfast, and what about the evening guests and children, you need to give them all a wedding favour.

Then think about what happens to that favour once the wedding is over and the guest takes it home with them, or not. It might get put in a cupboard away from sight, and then gets left, which means you’ve spent all that time and money for something that gets hidden away, or left at your party.
